human health and medicine

Bioplatforms aims to improve the health of all Australians by leveraging our infrastructure network to advance medical research, diagnostics, and treatments, fostering a healthier future for generations to come.

OUR APPROACH

Bioplatforms Australia supports biomedical and human health research in Australia by leveraging the cutting-edge integrated technologies operated across the national laboratory and bioinformatics network. These technologies enable the generation of large-scale (usually population level) data resources and secure data sharing solutions required to advance the understanding and treatment of complex diseases and conditions spanning cancers, cardiovascular diseases, antimicrobial resistance as well as health related functions associated with gut metabolites and microbiomes.

Bioplatforms contribution aims to bolster the research agenda’s supported through the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care’s Research Missions, primarily delivered by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). Deploying the national omics laboratory network in support of these agenda’s increases the research capacity and acceleration in data creation and management across genomics, proteomic and metabolomic data. This supercharged effort in omics data aids researchers and healthcare professionals to advance medical knowledge, development of precision treatments and effective healthcare interventions for all Australians.
