ARC Centre for Accelerated Future Crop Development

The ARC Training Centre for Future Crops Development, is dedicated to advancing agricultural innovation through cutting-edge research and training. Running from 2022 to 2027, this Centre is a pivotal initiative aimed at transforming the agricultural sector by developing new capabilities and enhancing global food security.

The Centre drives innovation in the Agrifood sector with a focus on synthetic biology, gene-editing, and crop breeding. It trains PhD students and early-career researchers in agri-tech and socio-economic analysis, while partnering with global experts to develop technologies that improve crop yield, grain quality, and overall agricultural productivity.

The Centre aims to deliver tangible benefits to consumers, rural communities, and the broader economy. It emphasises the need for societal dialogue on emerging technologies and aligns innovations with societal demands to ensure responsible and impactful advancements.

Led by The Australian National University, the Centre connects interdisciplinary researchers, industry partners, and students, creating a collaborative environment to drive agricultural innovation and address global food security challenges.
