ABOUT

ARC CoE in Nanoscale Biophotonics

Bioplatforms Australia was a key partner in the Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale BioPhotonics through the Commonwealth Government NCRIS program. The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) was a highly innovative research program that merged advanced capabilities in nanoscience, photonics, and biomolecular science to explore and measure molecular processes occurring within living systems.

Established in 2014, the CNBP set out to push the boundaries of knowledge in nanoscale photonics and surface science to develop novel approaches to nanoscale sensing. The program particularly sought to reveal new insights into cellular processes. By merging optical physics with nanoscience, the CNBP offered groundbreaking potential for novel measurements of cellular responses to environmental conditions and clinical treatments.

The seven-year research program initially focused on the development of embryos, immune signals such as touch and pain, and cardiovascular health. New abilities to detect change and monitor biological processes within the body have since advanced diagnostics and healthcare outcomes.

This collaborative program brought together leading researchers from the University of Adelaide, Macquarie University, and RMIT University with key international, national, and industry partners.
