ABOUT

ARC Centre for Facilitated Advancement of Australia’s Bioactives

The ARC Training Centre for Facilitated Advancement of Australia’s Bioactives (FAAB) is a consortium focused on identifying, characterising, and enhancing bioactive compounds from natural sources, food, food waste, and cell-based biotechnologies. FAAB unites experts from Macquarie University, Deakin University, the University of South Australia, Western Sydney University, and 13 industry partners to advance the bioactives sector.

The Centre establishes analytical validation principles to support the effective use of bioactives in various applications. Research includes discovering and characterising bioactives, improving therapeutic effectiveness, and addressing challenges like solubility and bioavailability.

FAAB plays an important role in training the next generation of biotechnology research scientists, equipping them with cutting-edge skills in analytical sciences, microbiology, pharmacokinetics, and regulated research environments. The Centre’s efforts aim to drive innovation, enhance Australia’s competitiveness in the bioactives market, and support evidence-based decision-making and regulatory development.
