ABOUT

ARC Hub for Carbon Utilisation and Recycling

The ARC Research Hub for Carbon Utilisation and Recycling, launched in 2023 and led by Monash University, focuses on transforming carbon dioxide emissions from the energy and manufacturing sectors into valuable products. The program also aims to create market pathways that drive industry transformation.

The Hub develops advanced technologies using electrochemical, thermochemical, and biochemical methods to convert CO2 into useful materials. It enhances direct air capture for more efficient CO2 recycling and supports policies for the early-stage market development of these innovations.

Under the leadership of Professor Paul Webley from the Woodside Monash Energy Partnership, the Hub collaborates with seven national and international academic institutions and 22 industry partners. As part of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Program, the Hub significantly contributes to emission reduction goals, stimulates job creation, and fosters growth in the emerging CO2-based industry.

The Hub engages a diverse team of students and researchers to position Australia as a leader in technological innovation and building a skilled workforce for the future CO2 economy.
