ARC Training Centre in Plant Biosecurity
The ARC Training Centre in Plant Biosecurity is safeguarding Australia’s agricultural and natural ecosystems from the growing threats of pests and diseases. A collaboration between The Australian National University, James Cook University, the University of Canberra, and 27 industry and government partners, the Centre is funded by the ARC from 2024 to 2029 to address critical challenges and protect the nation’s agricultural productivity, biodiversity, and quality of life.
The Centre is training the next generation of leaders and innovators through tailored programs, cutting-edge research, and industry-driven partnerships. Its initiatives deliver solutions for early detection of pests and pathogens, data-driven decision-making, and enhanced adoption practices. Collaborative projects ensure practical and impactful outcomes while fostering a connected and skilled biosecurity workforce ready to address evolving challenges.
By integrating research with industry placements and entrepreneurship training, the Centre bridges the gap between innovation and application. Through collaborative projects and a focus on community building, the Centre is delivering transformative solutions to strengthen Australia’s biosecurity system and protect its natural and productive ecosystems for future generations.
