ABOUT

Australian Cardiovascular Data Commons

The Australian Cardiovascular Disease Data Commons (ACDC) is a transformative platform providing secure, scalable, and globally integrated infrastructure to advance cardiovascular research. By pooling data from 400,000 individuals across 18 Australian clinical cohorts, it enables discoveries into coronary artery disease (CAD), the leading cause of death and hospitalisation in Australia. Using biomarker research techniques like genomics and metabolomics alongside advanced analytics, the ACDC supports early detection and improved patient outcomes.

Building on a successful pilot project by the Australian BioCommons and partners, the ACDC platform, powered by Gen3, features a standardised data dictionary, federated identity management, and synthetic non-sensitive data for security testing. Supported by a $3 million MRFF Grant, the $9 million project runs from June 2023 to December 2027.

Led by the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, the Australian BioCommons, and key partners, the ACDC enables cross-cohort data sharing and analysis, driving discovery and clinical translation while establishing a global standard for precision medicine infrastructure.
