ABOUT

Australian Genomics

Australian Genomics is a national initiative driving the integration of genomics into healthcare to improve outcomes for all Australians. Established in 2016 with a $25 million National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant, Australian Genomics bridges the gap between genomic research and clinical application by building evidence to inform health policy and advancing national standards for genomic data management.

With a strong focus on ethical, legal, and social responsibility, Australian Genomics promotes the safe and equitable use of genomic technologies, ensuring data integrity, respectful patient care, and the responsible sharing of genomic and clinical information.

Australian Genomics unites experts and stakeholders to advance equitable genomic healthcare. Through flagship projects in rare diseases and cancers, it has developed key tools, standards, and resources to integrate genomics into mainstream healthcare.

Australian Genomics plays an international leadership role through initiatives like the Global Alliance for Genomics in Health, shaping global standards. Supported by the Federal Government’s Medical Research Future Fund, it advances key priorities such as genomic data management, workforce training, Indigenous genomics, and healthcare policy, driving the integration of genomics into Australian healthcare.
