– ABOUT
ARC CoE for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH) undertakes research to safeguard our national heritage, transform research culture, connect with communities, and inform policy. A priority is to integrate traditionally separate fields such as earth sciences, ecology, genetics, archaeology, and Indigenous studies to develop a comprehensive narrative that begins long before human arrival.
Australia has been shaped by its natural, historic, and Indigenous heritage. To adapt successfully to future changes, it is essential to dramatically improve our understanding of Australia’s past. Our vision to reveal a culturally inclusive, globally significant history of Australia’s people and their environment is both ambitious and exciting.
Opened at Parliament House in Canberra on 22 June 2017, the Centre is supported by a $33.75 million grant from the Australian Research Council, $1 million from the NSW Government, and $11 million from 20 participating universities, museums, and organisations. More than 130 researchers from universities and partner organisations across Australia and abroad collaborate on its initiatives.
The funding is supporting around 40 research positions and more than 50 research students over the 7-year life of the Centre.

BIOPLATORMS PARTNERSHIP
Bioplatforms Australia’s partnership supports access to national state-of-the-art omics facilities, enabling researchers to generate and analyse biological data in pursuit of scientific understanding.
