ABOUT

CoE in Innovations in peptide and protein science

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Peptide and Protein Science (CIPPS) is a leading Australian research centre dedicated to harnessing the power of peptides and proteins from nature for human benefit. Supported by $35 million in funding from the Australian Research Council and $54 million in additional contributions, CIPPS is positioning Australia as a global hub for peptide and protein research.

The Centre brings together a multidisciplinary team of top researchers to discover new peptides and proteins from Australia’s diverse flora and fauna. By decoding their biological functions, CIPPS aims to develop innovative solutions to global challenges in health, agriculture, and industry.

With cutting-edge expertise in areas such as peptide and protein chemical synthesis, medicinal chemistry, proteomics, and natural product discovery, CIPPS has made significant strides, including the development of eco-friendly pesticides and the exploration of spider venom as a potential treatment for epilepsy, stroke, and pain.

CIPPS collaborates with industry leaders across sectors, from pharmaceuticals (AstraZeneca, Novo Nordisk) to biotechnology (Innovate Ag), to drive innovation and nurture the next generation of researchers, paving the way for advancements that benefit society.
